Ancient trading town on the Adriatic, Rovinj is now a tourist resort. Settled by the Slavs in the VIIth century. The relics of St. Euphemia are buried in St. Euphemia's Basilica. At the top of the bell tower, a statue of the saint holding a palm and a wheel, symbols of her martyrdom. Rovinj is located in Istria, the westernmost county of Croatia.
